Hello there
Sorry about the two-week delay.
First I put my foot through the stairs in our house and then I got sick. I tried to battle on, but some things had to go.
The good news is that the experience has got me thinking about what it means to work with a lack of slack. To not build time into your days for stuff happening. I put my thoughts into a blog post, which you can find via the first link below.
Anyway, how are you? Working on something exciting? Found something you think I should share in this newsletter?
Don’t forget, you can always hit reply and say hello. I don’t bite.
Have a good week,
Iain

i'm struck by how many readers get trained to read poetry as a decoding process or a riddle-solving. rather than "just" enjoying language and imagining what's happening on the page. a deer can be a symbol of something "profound." or it can be a deer. the sound "deer."

things I would like to do with my novel today. 1. Bury it and then get drunk and forget where.
2. Invent a virus specifically designed to find and destroy all drafts.
3. Bake it into a pie and then feed it to unsuspecting passerby's who will feel sad all day and not know why

This poem never fails to destroy me. It’s one of the reasons I started writing poetry, a billion years ago. https://t.co/P4Db9oMEsB
